the six
core principles
-
Your mind reflects your body and your body will reflect your mind.
As above, so below.
Your mental health can impact your physical health just as your physical health can impact your mental health. Your thoughts, feelings, emotions and spiritual practices will directly affect your body.
When your body is burdened with toxins, inflammation, and digestive distress (leaky gut), it can show up as brain fog, depression, anxiety, and fits of uncontrollable emotion (such as anger). All of these will affect how you think and perceive yourself, others and the world.
-
The fastest way to change our phycology and physiology is through our breath.
Chest and mouth breathing disrupt homeostasis and engage the sympathetic "fight/flight" response, causing chronic stress and anxiety. Chronic stimulation of the nervous system disrupts hormones and leads to various health challenges, including weight gain, digestive issues, and poor sleep. The sympathetic nervous system should only be activated for short periods.
-
Proper hydration is crucial for every bodily function. Even a 1-2% level of dehydration may go unnoticed, yet it results in about a 5% decrease in athletic performance. We help you understand your body's hydration needs and implement strategies to maintain optimal hydration levels.
-
Food is more than fuel; it's information for your body. In the intricate tapestry of the human experience, each person thrives with a unique diet. I reject the notion of restrictive diets and advocate for cultivating a mindful relationship with food. Tune into your body's innate wisdom; it communicates its needs if we listen.
-
It's through movement we experience the world. The body is in constant adaptation to how we are moving in the environment. We are directing the body's form and function.
Our bodies function as a closed hydraulic system, pumping fluids and nutrients throughout our muscles, joints, glands, and organs. Movement is the mechanism that facilitates this flow, and it's crucial for our well-being. Through movement, we not only pump nutrients but also excrete toxins through sweat, preventing our bodies from becoming stagnant, akin to still water turning foul with bad bacteria.
-
Sleep is our chief physician. It's during sleep that our bodies undergo crucial healing and regeneration. There's no shortcut to a good night's sleep, and its absence can impact every system in our body.
Fatigue, pain, changes in mood, and illnesses are signals from our body encouraging us to rest.
